Artist's Description

The thermometer read 19 degrees when I went out this morning to do a little plein air painting. I wore three shirts, three pair of pants, two pairs of socks (in Carl's boots), gloves, a hooded jacket, and a ski mask. I was determined to paint Carl's pond in its frozen state and capture the little bit of snow still on the bank. I'm not as much a winter-hardy plein air painter as many of my artist friends in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont, and other cold climes. This is the result. Happy Polar Vortex New Year!

I am fascinated by...
